Kerry Moore runs a cookery club at the North Borough Junior Primary School in Maidstone Kent.
The cookery club does not have the use of an oven and over the last three years Kerry has used imaginative recipes which also helps promote healthy eating.
1/2 pint clear plastic cups
Large tubs of yogurt (plain or flavoured)
Coco pops/rice krispies
Granola
Mixed dried fruit
Fresh soft fruit (or frozen) i.e. blackberries, strawberries or blueberries.
Put into the bottom of your clear cup a level of coco pops, rice krispies or granola. Spoon on top any flavour yogurt. Top off with your fresh or dried fruit. Make as many layers as you like, they look great.
A lovely breakfast or a wonderful dessert!
Mini pitta pockets
Baby leaf spinach
Tuna
Cheese(grated)
Ham
Black olives
Cherry tomatoes
Carrots (grated)
Set all your ingredients out on the table. Everyone has their own plastic plate. It is then their choice what to put into their pitta pocket. Great way to talk about healthy eating and to introduce new food to the children to try.
