What is my Birth Stone?
Choosing birthday gifts which incorporate a birth stone can personalise any gift or present whether it is for a friend, a work colleague or a member of your family.
There are a number of different birth stone lists which can be a little confusing. Some are based on ancient beliefs whilst others are of more recent origin. These lists include:
Modern Birthstones: This is the list officially recognised in the US by the Jewelers of America. The list was also adopted in 1937 by the British National Association of Goldsmiths.
Traditional Birthstones: Birthstones appear to have been used in a number of societies from at least as far back as biblical days.
Mystical Birthstones: Based on information of Tibetan origin.
Ayurvedic Birthstones: From the ancient Ayurvedic Indian medicine.
