You will need:
100g butter
6 teaspoons of golden syrup
1 large cooking apple (peeled and cut into small pieces).
50g sultanas (optional)
175g porridge oats
Instructions
1 Simply melt the butter, honey and golden syrup over a low heat. Stir and add the apple and sultanas. Leave for 2 or 3 minutes so the apple softens and take off the heat.
2 Stir in the porridge oats until they are well covered with the apple mixture. Fill a 20cm cake tin making sure the mixture is pressed into the corners.
3 Put into an oven preheated to gas mark 5 or 190 Celsius and cook for 20 minutes or until the top is a golden brown. Allow to cool for a few minutes before turning out on to a cooling track.
4 Slice into fingers – it should make 15. Store in a air-tight tin – that’s if you can resist the temptation not to eat them immediately.
